Before you sign
- "Guaranteed approval" or "no checks". A licensed lender must check.
- Pressure to decide today. A good offer is still there tomorrow.
- A fee paid before you receive the money.
- Cannot tell you the total in dollars.
- Asks for your e-wallet password, PIN or your phone.
- Wants a land title or your original ID held, for a small loan.
After you borrow
- Contacts your family, employer or neighbours about your debt.
- Threats, visits at night, or public shaming.
- Fees that were not in the contract.
- Refuses to give a receipt for a repayment.
What to do
A licensed lender is prohibited from all of the above. Report it to the National Bank of Cambodia. If it is one of our partners, tell us too, and they will be removed.
